New Directors/New Films got underway the other night with Cherien Dabis' Amreeka. Over the next week MoMA and Film Society of Lincoln Center will unspool two dozen features and a half dozen shorts at the annual event - over at Spout I take a look at the program as a marker of "New" filmmaking, while at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Blog, I interview Alexis Dos Santos, who is playing ND/NF for a second time with his terrific film Unmade Beds. It screens tomorrow and monday, but it you can't make it then, don't fear; IFC Films is distributing it theatrically later this year.
